About the role
Join Medline ReNewal in Redmond, Oregon, a division of one of the nation’s largest medical manufacturing and distribution companies. Medline ReNewal reprocesses single-use medical devices for hospitals, extending their lifecycle and reducing environmental impact—diverting millions of pounds of waste from landfills annually. As a Machine Operator, you will handle the initial sorting, photographing, decontaminating, and drying of invasive medical devices, ensuring compliance with Medline ReNewal’s standard operating procedures and FDA guidelines for patient safety. This role involves working with strong odors (chemicals, body fluids), contamination, and sharp surgical instruments.
Responsibilities
- Receive containers of devices from the receiving team and confirm all necessary paperwork is present.
- Sort each bin of incoming contaminated devices by type in a safe manner.
- Document devices received and forward them to the appropriate decontamination area or reject ineligible devices.
- Decontaminate devices using one or more of the following methods:
- Chemical soaks to sanitize and loosen debris.
- Ultrasonic baths to loosen debris.
- Steam cleaning or scrubbing devices.
- Manual scrubbing with various implements to remove debris (e.g., blood, human tissue).
- Dry cleaned devices using compressed air.
- Ensure devices are kept separate according to documentation and organizational systems.
- Verify devices match documentation and paper records before sending them to the next production area; sign off on documents.
- Assist other departments as needed to meet or exceed production goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate in basic English with management and co-workers (speaking and advanced reading required).
- Ability to use a computer to locate information and print reports.
- Stand for an 8-hour shift with appropriate meal and rest breaks.
- Work in a room with sinks, racks, tables, and limited movement space.
- Work in an environment with continuous moderate to high noise, humidity, and moisture levels.
- Lift, push, or pull batches of devices averaging 45 lbs up to 10 times per day.
- Perform repetitive tasks, including small motion tasks, throughout the shift.
- Focus and work safely with sharp, contaminated devices at a fast pace.
Qualifications
- Required: None specified beyond the requirements listed above.
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Prior experience in a manufacturing role.
Pay
Anticipated salary range: $17.25 - $25.00 per hour. Actual salary will vary based on location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
