Machine Operator – HIP Furnace Operator

About the role

Based in Fountain Inn, SC, the Machine Operator – HIP Furnace Operator works under the direction of the Production Manager to perform critical functions related to equipment operation in the Control Room. This position is eligible for a $1,500 sign-on retention bonus and is deemed safety-sensitive due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and carefully build and box cycles, including loading/unloading customer parts onto, into, or out of units, baskets, tubs, racks, or other containers as required.
• Independently operate, control, and monitor unit equipment as outlined in standard procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
• Operate equipment in the Control Room, including creating/correcting load diagrams and updating the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) database.
• Conduct gas analysis, manage compressor usage, and determine when and where to save reclaimed gas.
• Determine optimal temperature and pressure for running cycles, including allowed deltas, thermocouple placement, and disregarding faulty thermocouples.
• Decide the temperature to start venting cycles and select appropriate can/ring sizes for loading parts.
• Follow established work procedures, control measures, and applicable Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) rules, including the use of PPE where issued.
• Respect all guards, barriers, and permits at all times and cooperate in health screening and surveillance procedures as required.
• Immediately report any unusual problems, irregularities, or concerns to a Supervisor or management.
• Operate a forklift and crane safely.
• Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping.
• Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• Handle customer inventory with care to prevent loss or damage.
• Report to work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience with heat treatment operation and/or drinking/waste water management.
• Must be able to work overtime or any shifts, including weekends.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
• Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.

Schedule

This position requires weekend and Friday hours: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with the ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week.
