About the role

We are seeking Machine Center Operators for our Freedom, NY location on 1st and 2nd shifts. These are entry-level positions focused on handling lumber safely and efficiently in a typical sawmill environment, with exposure to some weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Straighten lumber on conveyor to align it for grading, sawing, edging, trimming, sorting, stacking, or transfer to other conveyors.
• Shovel bark and chips and clean work area using broom and shovel; ensure the area is free of banding and boards before leaving each day.
• Learn to operate various machinery and complete preventative maintenance as scheduled on assigned equipment.
• Perform housekeeping tasks that may involve climbing and crawling.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, head protection, steel-toed work boots, and other required gear).

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Able and willing to work long hours, weekends, and maintain a strong attendance record.
• Willing to cross-train in various positions; must be self-motivated, possess good work ethics, and work well in a team.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
