Machine Operator Day Shift

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Night Shift Dry Packaging Machine Operator to join our team at Tuffy’s Pet Foods. This role operates and maintains the general operation of a line to ensure continuous quality, efficiency, sanitation, and safety.

• Communicate with Supervisor/Foreman on all production concerns
• Communicate with Extruder Operators on product times and bin space
• Start and set up all required equipment for production
• Control packaging materials, code dates, expiration dates, stickers and any items unique to product specs
• Control product quality, packaging quality, contamination, weight controls and line efficiency
• Perform general maintenance and repairs on equipment and assist maintenance personnel
• Perform all equipment adjustments and change overs and troubleshoot equipment when problems occur
• Complete all daily reports in legible manner, special projects as assigned
• Absorb and assist in supervising all line workers required on line
• Absorb and assist in performing all other duties assigned
• Absorb and assist in training of all line workers
• Coordinate all record keeping and charting to include cleaning schedule, packaging yields and efficiency
• Absorb and assist in controlling packaging area

Qualifications

• General mathematical ability and basic computer skills
• Not afraid of heights, able to climb 150 feet
• Able to meet physical requirements necessary for this position
• Able to read, speak, write and understand English
• Able to work in a loud and at times dusty and hot environment
• Able to get along with others and willing to fill in on other shifts as required by supervisor
• Able to handle weights of up to 65 lbs on a routine basis
