About the Role
The Machine Operator is responsible for achieving full production potential with 100% mail count integrity at their machine for each shift. The operator works under established procedures and collaborates with the production team to address production problems related to mailing material and equipment, under the supervision of a Shift Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Operate mail production machinery to meet daily output goals and maintain operator efficiency.
- Clear machine jams and make minor adjustments as needed.
- Troubleshoot and identify malfunctions in machine performance.
- Apply knowledge of machinery setup methods and techniques.
- Monitor equipment to maximize uptime.
- Perform quality checks on all output at the work station.
- Maintain machine operator work logs and stock at the work station.
- Keep the work area neat, clean, and organized.
- Collaborate with other operators and supervisors to achieve maximum production capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of experience operating light production equipment.
- One to two years of experience in a mail production environment.
- Knowledge and aptitude for operating computerized mail equipment.
- Former manufacturer-provided equipment training.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members on the production floor each shift.
- Read job orders to complete prescribed jobs and write job-related notes during shifts.
