Job Summary

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating production equipment and completing manufacturing activities in accordance with established work instructions, production schedules, quality requirements, and safety procedures. This position performs equipment setup, material loading, machine operation, in-process inspections, and basic troubleshooting to ensure products meet applicable quality and production standards. The role works closely with Production Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance; and participates in workplace organization and continuous-improvement activities, including 5S, Gemba walks, KPI reviews, and Kaizen events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow approved work instructions, process specifications, drawings, production orders, and quality requirements.
  • Set up machines and production equipment according to established procedures.
  • Monitor machine operation and process parameters throughout the production run.
  • Perform required in-process inspections and measurements using approved inspection plans.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, material shortages, process deviations, and quality concerns.
  • Perform basic machine adjustments and troubleshooting within the limits of training and authorization.
  • Maintain machines, tools, fixtures, and work areas in clean and organized condition.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive-maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Follow established procedures for material handling, product protection, packaging, and identification.
  • Participate in training related to equipment operation, safety, quality criteria, process alerts, and quality alerts.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of electromechanical troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • One to three years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working with production orders, work instructions, and inspection requirements preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Ability to read basic drawings, specifications, production orders, and inspection plans.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while following production priorities.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while operating production equipment.
  • Ability to perform small and repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to work overtime or adjusted schedules when required to support production needs.
