Machine Operator

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Operator has overall responsibility for their respective machine and its performance, including uptime/downtime, product scrap, output, and efficiency through good manufacturing practices and continuous improvement, while maintaining all safety standards and food safety/GMP guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment where safety, customer focus, effectiveness, and efficiency are prioritized in people and equipment performance.
  • Maximize equipment effectiveness and productivity, eliminating all machine losses.
  • Foster a sense of ownership with equipment and team members through respect, involvement, and training.
  • Promote continuous improvement through small-group activities involving production, maintenance, engineering, 5S, and external resources.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine issues as needed.
  • Mentor, coach, and lead other personnel on the machine to ensure effective operation.
  • Train coworkers on proper operating techniques, knowledge, and practices.
  • Oversee new hire training for the respective machine.
  • Maintain good housekeeping, including sweeping, dusting, and wiping tables.
  • Actively participate in all required trainings, including safety and technical sessions.
  • Inspect product at the required frequency.
  • Package all goods produced.
  • Ensure trimming and accuracy of all goods produced.
  • Maintain data accuracy for all transactions performed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Trades training is a plus.
  • Three years of manufacturing experience as a maintenance or production leader/operator.
  • Ability to read precision measuring tools and interpret basic mechanical and pneumatics schematics.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and accurate data entry.
  • Understanding of data analysis to influence effective decision-making.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, including working at a computer.
  • Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Potential contact with chemicals and cleaning supplies.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Maneuver around and inside small areas to make machine adjustments during setups, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
