About the role

An Operations Technician 2 is part of our pay-for-skills program and allows individuals to continue building skills, providing opportunity to increase compensation. Individuals at Level 2 have accumulated 3-4 skill blocks. Skill blocks may include skills in Assembly, Machine Operation, or Material Handling.

As an entry-level Operations Technician, you will assemble products and/or related parts in a manufacturing setting at a standard rate of work based on customer demand and lean manufacturing principles to satisfy the customer and provide high-quality products delivered in a timely manner. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Cross-training in other departments to learn additional functions is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate specialty machinery to fabricate, manufacture, assemble, or move products meeting all necessary specifications and quality control standards.
• Maintain and monitor machinery to ensure proper function.
• Perform multiple processes using a variety of equipment in a manufacturing setting, dependent upon the department processes.
• Produce a high-quality product delivered in a timely manner to satisfy customers.
• Solve problems with the assistance of other team members and seek continuous improvement.
• Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
• Learn additional functions through cross-training in other departments.
• Communicate effectively.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance based on scheduled hours.
• Rotate through department work stations based on business need.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

• Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift.
• Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to talk, hear, and see with or without correction.

• One of the following is required:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent (GED, for example).
  • Work experience which demonstrates performance competency.
• For Machine Operation Skills and Abilities:
  • Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting.
  • Preferred advanced math skills related to the ability to operate advanced systems or processes such as GDT (Geometric Dimensional Tolerances).
  • Ability to use required measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, tape measure, etc.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals.
  • Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment and influence others.
