Machine Operator (3rd shift) Job
About the role
Steel Ceilings, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, is seeking a Machine Operator to join our team. This position operates an Amada Turret in a Metal Fabrication shop, setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and quality checking products.
Responsibilities
- Set-up, operate, troubleshoot, and quality check product on an Amada Turret in a Metal Fabrication shop.
- Follow all company safety policies, confirm and maintain all manufacturing standards, and ensure work schedules are accomplished.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as required, including machine operation, final panel assembly, infill pad creation, crating, forklift operation, inventory counting, and assisting others.
- Work with steel, aluminum, curved and angled parts.
- Operate machinery or stations as instructed by the Team Leader to meet scheduled demands.
- Conduct quality checks per assigned frequency on parts after banding to ensure meeting the tolerances provided.
- Reduce powder waste by learning the details on how the equipment functions.
- Keep accurate records of production, quality checks, and updates to standards for other operators in the area.
- Properly clean and maintain equipment per housekeeping guidelines and manufacturer recommendations.
Requirements
- Prior manufacturing experience on Turrets, CNC Lasers, or sheet metal CNC cutting machines. Preferably Amada.
- Knowledge of metal manufacturing materials, fabrication processes.
- Ability to bend and produce metal parts holding a .016 tolerance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of metalworking processes.

Education and Experience

Work Environment
- Plant Environment – This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions.
