Machine Operator 3rd shift

About the Role

The Machine Operator ensures all machine processing meets company safety, product quality, and customer standards. They monitor and set the pace of the production line to maximize productivity.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and machine HMI operation functions.
• Conduct label verification checks.
• Maintain coordination with FSQA Techs on product status and assist in resolving deviations.
• Work with the Line Lead to identify and resolve issues as they arise.
• Assist stations on the production line where bottlenecks occur.
• Verify correct code dates and check fill rates hourly, taking action to maximize efficiency.
• Maintain hour-by-hour boards tracking downtime, staffing, product progress, pressurization time, fill rates, and cycles completed per hour.
• Review board updates for trends and take corrective action.
• Complete paperwork per customer specifications.
• Monitor attendance at shift changes, breaks, and lunches, communicating deficiencies to the Line Lead or Supervisor.
• Schedule HPP cycles before breaks or lunches to ensure material readiness upon return.
• Report issues to the supervisor immediately.
• Communicate changeovers with quality and team leads for three-party verification.
• Work with the Line Lead to ensure complete label changeouts.
• Lead the execution of CIPs (Clean-In-Place), ensuring team members wear appropriate safety gear and handle chemicals safely.
• Monitor CIP quality to remove foreign material and ensure proper contact with cleaner and sanitizer.
• Store cleaning chemicals securely in the designated cage.
• Communicate mechanical issues with the Maintenance team and discuss short-term plans for line cleaning or material staging.
• Reallocate labor resources if shutdowns exceed 15 minutes.
• Review the weekly "Operator Scorecard," share best practices, and implement corrective actions for below-standard performance.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a cold environment.
• Machine operator experience is desired.
• Ability to work in a team environment and meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• Satisfactory attendance record.
• Flexibility with work schedule and job duties in a changing environment.
• Good communication skills (reading, writing, speaking); bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Legible writing skills.
• Ability to stand for entire shifts, bend, twist, and lift 45+ pounds regularly.
• Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds on rollers regularly.

Working Conditions

This role operates in a cold, wet environment within the facility. Team members may come into direct contact with allergenic food ingredients as referenced by the FDA.
