Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

About the role

TekniPlex Healthcare, based in Clayton, NC, is seeking a Machine Operator to join their team. This position is available on a 3rd shift basis from Sunday to Thursday, working from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with potential for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up/Changeover extruder according to specification using material in pellet form to produce products meeting customer specifications, dimensions and weight.
  • Troubleshoot all related equipment, including extruder and controls.
  • Make machine adjustments to ensure product meets dimensional and physical specifications, including adjustments to dies, speed and temperature.
  • Able to install and change appropriate tooling (cores, dies, head, screens, etc.).
  • Weigh and mix pelletized materials according to production work order.
  • Understand polymer resins and drying requirements.
  • Complete product traceability, logs, production reports, data entry, etc. as required to document extrusion related activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience; preferably in extrusion or injection molding.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift certification through the company.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours or more.

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Occasionally requires use of senses of taste or smell.

Work Environment

  • Moderate noise levels.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Occasional exposure to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic, flammable or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to adjust focus.
