About the role
The Machine Operator will operate equipment in one or more value streams of the Good Hope operations, producing valuable, defect-free products that meet or exceed customer expectations. Success in this role involves executing standard work and adhering to company policies.
Responsibilities
- Follow Schedule Boards or Hour-by-Hour boards.
- Print and produce product to match order specifications.
- Perform hand finishing (e.g., laminating, stack cutting, sheeting) as required.
- Conduct final pre-run inspections, quality checks during production, and job completion to meet quality and quantity standards.
- Perform preventive maintenance on applicable equipment.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and chemicals (e.g., inks, cleaning solvents) according to procedures.
- Work from standard work, written instructions, and established procedures to complete assigned tasks.
- Address and resolve routine inquiries and problems; escalate complex issues to supervisors.
- Interact with different shifts to provide updates on current jobs, issues, or changes.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic computer skills (email, Microsoft Office, data entry).
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to safely lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for 80%–100% of shift.
- Ability to push/pull 22 lbs.
- Ability to climb 8 inches; frequent standing and walking.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical and analytical skill set.
- Ability to read and follow written directions.
- Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Mechanical aptitude (hand tools, pneumatic tools, following work instructions).
- Ability to read a ruler accurately within 1/64".
- Maintain production standards (quantity and quality).
