This role is based in McBee, SC, within the North America Water Heaters (NAWH) business unit and operates in an onsite workplace setting.

About the role

As an Operator, you will initiate operations in accordance with customer requirements and monitor performance to optimize production processes.

Responsibilities

• Gather materials as needed to maintain production.
• Perform complex, critical setup processes, operation, and adjustment of equipment to produce product within specifications.
• Perform visual quality checks using tools and gauges to examine product for defects (cuts, folds, seals, and perforations) to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Operate and monitor equipment and replenish materials as needed.
• Accurately and efficiently perform steps necessary to conduct changeovers.
• Remove parts from machine after cycle is complete.
• Utilize computer monitors to operate the equipment.
• Fill out paperwork related to production activity.
• Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to production lead or supervisor.
• Train other operators as needed or requested.
• Wear required PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, and any additional PPE required for task being performed).
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
• Cross-train, permitting movement throughout and between departments.
• Perform other duties and operate machinery as assigned by lead/supervisor.

Requirements

• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow standard work and work instructions.
• Ability to receive on-the-job training.
• Ability to read simple blueprints.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to perform repetitive work while paying attention to detail.
• Knowledge and skill to operate all required machines.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, stand, walk, push, pull, crouch, or reach within hands- and arms-length on a regular and/or repetitive basis.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
• Must not be on predischarge for attendance or have a written performance write-up for any reason.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and frequent bending and reaching.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
