Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor assigned production machinery
- Perform equipment adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications
- Load raw materials into machines and remove finished products
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions or quality issues to the supervisor or maintenance team
- Accurately complete production, quality, and downtime documentation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Absorb and assist with changeovers, setup, and startup of production lines
- Work collaboratively with team members, maintenance personnel, and supervisors to meet production goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred (paper industry a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and specifications
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb as needed
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, and varying temperatures
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear
