Machine Operator 1 - SPS

Safety

• Conducts job briefings during operations and maintenance shifts.
• Familiarity with and adherence to on-track safety protocols.
• Locates and demonstrates the use of emergency equipment.

Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge

• Conducts machine inspections to identify issues and defects.
• Communicates conditions to operators or supervisors.
• Accurately records and reports parts used.
• Maintains and repairs equipment according to schedules and policies.
• Documents and completes daily field reporting and administrative tasks.

Behavioral Competencies

• Shows safety awareness.
• Adapts to new situations quickly.
• Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.

Qualifications

• Experience with Loram equipment or equivalent in a 24/7 environment.
• Technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machine operations.
• Ability to learn and communicate best practices.
• Railroad certifications, CPR/First Aid, valid Driver’s License.
• Heavy equipment operator experience (Backhoe, Excavator, etc.), maintenance, construction equipment maintenance.
• Basic administration computer skills.
• Working knowledge of data systems and remote equipment operations.
• Preferred radiation experience.
• Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.

Prior to Employment

• Completion of a pre-employment physical examination and role-specific assessments.
• Passing an eVerifile/eRailSafe background check.
• Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

• 100% travel, including international, using any method of transportation.

• Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing up close, distances, colors, and having use of peripheral vision and depth perception.
