Safety
- Conducts job briefings during operations and maintenance shifts.
- Familiarity with and adherence to on-track safety protocols.
- Locates and demonstrates the use of emergency equipment.
Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge
- Conducts machine inspections to identify issues and defects.
- Communicates conditions to operators or supervisors.
- Accurately records and reports parts used.
- Maintains and repairs equipment according to schedules and policies.
- Documents and completes daily field reporting and administrative tasks.
Behavioral Competencies
- Shows safety awareness.
- Adapts to new situations quickly.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
- Experience with Loram equipment or equivalent in a 24/7 environment.
- Technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machine operations.
- Ability to learn and communicate best practices.
- Railroad certifications, CPR/First Aid, valid Driver’s License.
- Heavy equipment operator experience (Backhoe, Excavator, etc.), maintenance, construction equipment maintenance.
- Basic administration computer skills.
- Working knowledge of data systems and remote equipment operations.
- Preferred radiation experience.
- Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
Prior to Employment
- Completion of a pre-employment physical examination and role-specific assessments.
- Passing an eVerifile/eRailSafe background check.
- Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Working Conditions
- 100% travel, including international, using any method of transportation.
- High levels of cognitive, analytical, retention, and reasoning skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing up close, distances, colors, and having use of peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Tolerates variable and sometimes extreme physical conditions.
