About The Role

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at SailPoint, you will be instrumental in shaping and advancing our AI-powered capabilities. Your expertise will drive the development, deployment, and scaling of sophisticated machine learning models that enhance our identity security platform. This role involves working at the intersection of AI innovation, software engineering, and platform architecture—designing resilient, production-grade ML systems that generate actionable insights and enable intelligent automation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, AI, product management, and DevOps to define strategic initiatives and implement best practices for scalable, responsible AI deployment. As a senior technical leader, you will mentor junior engineers, influence architectural decisions, and set standards for ML engineering excellence. Your contributions will directly impact SailPoint’s ability to deliver secure, reliable, and innovative identity security solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in machine learning engineering, software development, or related technical fields
  • Proficiency in Python programming
  • Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
  • Proven track record of deploying ML models at production scale, preferably in cloud-native environments
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, feature engineering, and statistical analysis
  • Solid knowledge of MLOps practices including model monitoring, retraining, CI/CD, and experiment tracking
  • Strong software engineering skills, including testing, modularization, code review, and observability
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize various ML models, including supervised, unsupervised, and large language models (LLMs), to support customer-facing and internal products
  • Translate AI research and experimental prototypes into scalable, maintainable production systems
  • Lead efforts to improve model accuracy, precision, recall, and generalization across diverse datasets and regions
  • Build and enhance ML infrastructure and pipelines for feature extraction, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
  • Define and drive technical strategies for reproducibility, model versioning, data lineage, and CI/CD automation in ML workflows
  • Collaborate with AI platform and DevOps teams to ensure reliable data access, observability, and optimal resource utilization
  • Set technical standards and best practices for ML engineering across the organization, influencing architecture and design decisions
  • Mentor and guide engineers on scalable ML design patterns, experimentation frameworks, and software craftsmanship
  • Partner with product and engineering leaders to prioritize AI capabilities aligned with business objectives
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of AI components within SailPoint’s ecosystem
  • Advance model lifecycle management, AI governance, and responsible AI practices to ensure fairness, transparency, and quality
  • Communicate complex ML concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support team operations, including planning, delivery, and stakeholder management, in partnership with TPMs and managers
