Machine Learning Engineer, Community Support Engineering
The Core ML Team
The Core ML team in Community Support is responsible for adopting Agentic AI technologies to enhance customer service experiences. The team focuses on developing the Chat AI assistant, Voice AI Assistant, and other AI-driven solutions.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize machine learning systems to improve guest and host experiences
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to integrate AI solutions into Airbnb's customer service products
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning
- Ship production-grade ML/AI systems at scale
Qualifications
- PhD or 3+ years of industry experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field
- Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), including pretraining, fine-tuning (Self-Supervised Fine-Tuning, Reward-Modeling Fine-Tuning, Prompt Engineering), and RAG architectures
- Experience with Agentic AI systems, including multi-agent orchestration, tool-use, planning, memory, and autonomous reasoning pipelines
- Deep understanding of ML infrastructure, model serving, and MLOps best practices
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and design teams

The successful applicant must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA or Seattle, WA.
