About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our Core Data & Analytics team. This role is pivotal in advancing Ibotta’s mission to make every purchase rewarding by developing scalable, high-impact machine learning solutions. As a technical leader, you will oversee the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated ML systems that influence business strategies and consumer experiences. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including architecture, data engineering, and product management, to ensure seamless integration of ML models within our infrastructure. Your expertise will help mature our current ML platform, introduce innovative solutions, and identify new opportunities for leveraging data-driven insights.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Software Engineer focused on deploying scalable ML systems.
  • Proficiency with ML frameworks such as Sklearn, TensorFlow, Sagemaker, and Spark ML.
  • Extensive experience working with distributed big-data tools like Spark and Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience prototyping, building, deploying, and monitoring mission-critical ML models in high-traffic environments.
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
  • Prominent track record of mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of production-grade machine learning systems across the organization.
  • Collaborate with architecture and platform teams to ensure seamless integration of ML services and pipelines into the broader technology infrastructure.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, effectively communicating complex ML concepts and insights.
  • Mentor and guide ML engineers and data scientists, fostering a culture of ownership, experimentation, and adherence to best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing ML infrastructure and develop new solutions that add value to business operations.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve ML capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices in data handling and model deployment.
