Machine Learning Engineer
About the Role
As a Machine Learning Engineer at Eccalon, you will be an essential member of the Research and Development Team, engineering large tailor-made systems to solve complex data-related problems across diverse domains. The projects you support will often require solutions leveraging the latest advancements in Deep Learning and Machine Learning research, in both data-constrained and data-rich environments.
Responsibilities
- Support classical Machine Learning workflows, including:
- Dataset creation
- Data exploration and visualization
- Literature review
- Data wrangling
- Implementation and training of models from literature
- Characterization of model error
- Iterative optimization of models
- Develop hands-on engineering solutions, such as:
- Creating training and preprocessing pipelines for faster experimentation
- Building algorithmic modules to align model outputs with business requirements
- Integrating code into a larger codebase
- Deploying models into production using AWS or GCP
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years of professional software development experience in Python
- Mastery of Deep Learning fundamentals and the statistics underlying Machine Learning
- Experience putting Machine Learning systems into production
- Strong software development project history
- Deep personal interest in the state-of-the-art of a Machine Learning subfield
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Effective communication with non-technical stakeholders and supervisors
- Prior project experience combining two or more of the following in a production setting:
- Unsupervised or semi-supervised learning
- Convolutional architectures
- Autoencoders
- Recurrent architectures for time-series applications
- Transformer architectures for natural language processing
- Generative adversarial architectures
Qualifications (Preferred)
- MS or PhD in Machine Learning or a related field
- Extensive AWS or GCP experience deploying scalable Machine Learning systems into production
- Experience working with high-volume or high-throughput data in data lakes, warehouses, or production environments
- Implementation of cutting-edge methods (e.g., custom layers) from recent Machine Learning publications or conference proceedings in PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Publications in AI/ML journals or conferences
