Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

The Machine Learning Team at BioRender is dedicated to automating figure generation from diverse user inputs like experimental protocols and research publications, producing scientifically accurate, editable visuals using our library of icons and templates. We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join our team and tackle hard, unsolved problems that go beyond off-the-shelf capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Combine computer vision and code generation: Develop structured, editable visuals (e.g., SVG/JSON) that accurately represent scientific concepts.
• Create story-driven scientific visuals: Design models that capture the appropriate level of detail, layout, and structure to effectively communicate complex biological concepts.
• Leverage scientific understanding: Build technology that understands the nuances of biological research to produce scientifically accurate visuals.
• Enable chat-driven figure editing: Implement intuitive, natural language-based editing of visuals while preserving their scientific integrity.

Requirements

• Deep technical expertise in machine learning
• A passion for solving novel challenges
• An enthusiasm for helping scientists communicate groundbreaking research faster and more effectively

Qualifications

• Nice to have: Scientific and research background

Skills

• Strong programming skills in Python/R
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Knowledge of computer vision techniques
• Experience with natural language processing
