About the role
The Machine Finishing Assistant supports post-press operations by assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of bindery and finishing equipment used in folder production. This role works closely with machine operators to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality and production standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the make-ready, setup, and operation of bindery and finishing equipment to support production goals.
- Review job tickets to understand job specifications, including quantities, stock requirements, and special instructions.
- Assist machine operators with equipment adjustments to maintain consistent product quality and production efficiency.
- Monitor finished products for quality and promptly report defects, inconsistencies, or other concerns.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and production standards and procedures.
- Assist with routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist with material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving stock and finished products as needed.
- Work effectively with machine operators, team members, and other departments to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the ability to consistently follow company safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures quickly and apply knowledge effectively.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong math and measurement skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with coworkers.
- Previous experience in a printing, bindery, or manufacturing environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday – Thursday, 2:00 pm – 12:00 am
