About the role

The Machine Brake Operator role supports the manufacturing of innovative products for leading brands through the set-up and operation of press brake machines. Duties include reading and interpreting engineering drawings, performing machine adjustments, inspecting parts, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate press brake machines to manufacture parts according to work instructions, blueprints, and customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine dimensional requirements.
  • Perform machine adjustments and basic programming to ensure proper part configuration and quality.
  • Inspect finished components using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, protractors, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy and identify defects or non-conforming parts.
  • Troubleshoot machine and production issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspection and report equipment concerns to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
  • Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, and production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leads, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Absorb and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and support departmental productivity goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1+ year of CNC machine operation experience, with specific experience operating a press brake machine.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments, including tape measures, calipers, and protractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to verify dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information in one-on-one and small group settings with team members, leads, and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate, set up, and perform basic maintenance on a variety of manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic press brake programming knowledge, including troubleshooting and making routine machine adjustments.
