About the role
As part of the corrugated packaging business at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), this position assists with machine set-up and quality monitoring, while also participating in training and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Absorb and execute instructions from factory cards and operators.
- Maintain equipment by assisting in its operation and making recommendations for improvements.
- Complete reports such as Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Lean Enterprise, and Quality Data.
- Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
- Work proactively to maintain equipment and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Switch duties with other crew members as required, including operating, feeding, pulling, stacking, and packing.
- Communicate quality-related issues to operators and helpers.
- Ensure finished boxes are properly stacked for unitizing and/or palletizing.
- Train helper(s) with job duties on the machine.
- Adhere to production schedule and make recommendations to optimize it for cost, quality, and service goals.
- Report any unusual scheduling issues to supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED.
- Lifting up to 45 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
- Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment.
- Experience in folding/gluing machine work.
- Prior experience working as a crewmember on a machine crew.

- Basic understanding of safety protocols and adherence to company policies.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.

Benefits
Starting salary for the position: $19.90 per hour. Annual bonus based upon achievement of plant performance metrics. Paid vacation: 2 weeks per calendar year. Paid holidays.
