About the role
This position performs a wide variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, maintaining clinical records, administering medications, giving injections, performing EKGs, wound dressing, and taking vital signs. This role will assist in front office duties and scheduling testing and/or patient appointments.
Responsibilities
- Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date.
- Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed.
- Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
- Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Engages with fellow staff and patients in a professional manner.
- Provides efficient and effective delivery of patient care and coordination of day-to-day clinical operations.
- Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
- Prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
- Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
- Informs physician of patient reported changes to aid in the ongoing assessment and plan of care for patients and charts objectively.
- Collections specimens, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and may perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
- Maintains supplies, equipment, stocking, and sterilization of instruments and disposes of waste appropriately.
- Maintains examination rooms, including minor cleaning, stocking of linens and removal of dirty supplies and linens.
- Participates and supports the clinic and hospital Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
- Participates in 80% of appropriate organizational meetings and trainings.
- Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position.
- Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel and strategic issues.

- Follows through on problems that may compromise effective job performance by using appropriate chain of command.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse - Current licensure in the state which the hospital is located as a Licensed Practical Nurse; Medical Assistant - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- One (1) year recent experience in primary care setting preferred.
- One (1) year clinical health care experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to fifty (50)+ pounds while administering care to patients.
- Stooping, kneeling and/or crouching daily in delivery of patient care.
- Standing and walking for more than five (5) hours per day; running occasionally in responding to patient care emergencies.

Minimum Requirements
- Education: Licensed Practical Nurse - Current licensure in the state which the hospital is located as a Licensed Practical Nurse; Medical Assistant - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- Experience: One (1) year recent experience in primary care setting preferred. One (1) year clinical health care experience required.
