Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant, L.P.N., or R.N. program (proof of graduation required before start)
- Not yet certified or registered (certification or registration must be obtained within 120 days of hire, proof provided to manager within 90 days)
- If certification or registration is not obtained within 120 days, employment may be terminated with rehire eligibility unless other performance factors prevent rehire
Skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-9 codes
- Working knowledge of medical office daily operations
- Working knowledge of Universal Precautions
- Typing skills with computer background
- Good communication skills in both verbal and written form
- The desire for more responsibility
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Review patient vital medical information and document it, including allergies, physical and emotional condition
- Document vital signs, height, weight, and subjective complaints in the Electric Medical Record and communicate to the physician
- Provide support and assistance during patient examinations and procedures
- Interpret and implement provider’s recommended “orders” (e.g. laboratory, etc.)
- Complete documentation and charting of clinical test results
- Obtain and process requested lab specimens, either internally or externally
- Complete in-office testing (e.g. EKG, holter monitor) as required
- Aid in the administration of medications or medication administration as directed
- Aid patients in scheduling follow-up, referrals, and future appointments
- Maintain diagnostic equipment and report malfunctions to the Enterprise Office Manager and/or Clinical Engineering
- Receive and organize medication samples
