- Shift: Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm; Fri 8am-3pm
- FT or PRN (as needed)
Summary
To provide medical assistance to the physician/nurse practitioner in a professional manner and to provide for patients in a caring, efficient and compassionate manner. To handle patient phone calls and care of patients in the office. Perform EKG's and CLIA waived test as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma.
- Good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
- Current BLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
- Ability to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with little supervision.
- Displays tact and diplomacy in inter-personal skills.
- Keeps BLS Certification current at all times.
- LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse diploma from an accredited school. Current Licensed Practical Nursing license. Maintains annual and continuing education credits; keeps license current at all times.
- Medical Assistant: Accredited Medical Assistant Program Certification or equivalent on the job training consisting of 3 or more years. Completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
- Two to five years of experience in a physician office setting preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Physician's office experience preferred.
- Experience with EPIC (EMR) a plus along with insurance processes required within a clinical setting.
Physical Demands
- Must possess good physical health.
- Requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
- Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
- Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
