This role is central to analyzing opportunities such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, joint ventures, infrastructure and power investments, and large-scale capital projects such as LNG.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop valuation analyses using DCF, net asset value (NAV), commodity price sensitivities, precedent transactions, and comparable companies.
  • Conduct accretion/dilution modeling to measure the financial impact of strategic transactions on earnings and free cash flow.
  • Analyze synergies, operational efficiencies, and integration risks associated with energy sector transactions, including field development, pipeline capacity, and power market integration.
  • Support full M&A and divestiture lifecycle, including asset screening, commercial and technical due diligence, financial review, bid strategy, negotiation support, and post deal integration modeling.
  • Partner with Engineering, Finance, Strategy, and Operations teams to validate assumptions related to production forecasts, capital expenditures, reserves, power generation profiles, commodity price curves, and regulatory factors.
  • Prepare investment decks, valuation summaries, and executive presentations for senior leadership and the Board.
  • Perform market and competitive analysis focusing on energy market trends, regulatory changes, energy transition impacts, and long-term supply/demand dynamics.
  • Support annual strategic planning, corporate portfolio optimization, and capital allocation decisions—balancing legacy assets with emerging clean energy investments.

Job Specific Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel, including building models from scratch for asset-heavy and commodity-driven businesses.
  • Strong understanding of energy market fundamentals, such as commodity pricing, cost curves, regulatory frameworks, production/operational metrics, and energy transition trends.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret large, complex datasets.
  • Strong communication skills with experience preparing executive-ready presentations and investment recommendations.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Education
