About the role
This position represents multiple openings in the West LA Service Area. The role involves providing nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, performing various patient care functions, and assisting medical personnel with procedures.
Responsibilities
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Performs patient care functions, within the scope of competency, considering age-related needs of the patient as prescribed by physician/health care professionals, following established protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Affixes and removes dressings, applies basic orthopedic devices, and executes treatments such as urinary catheterization, suction procedures, and throat irrigations.
- Administers medications as directed by physician order, following established protocols.
- Maintains equipment and supplies, identifies and arranges for equipment needing repair, and monitors patient flow and assigns/directs other ancillary personnel as needed.
- Provides medical information and education to patients, documents pertinent patient information, assesses and monitors patients’ conditions, and notifies physician/health care professional for disposition.
- Documents nursing procedures following established protocols, maintains patient confidentiality, and performs other duties as directed.
- Assists with various medical procedures, including but not limited to endotracheal intubations, obtaining tissue specimens and biopsies, sigmoidoscopies, restraining or supporting patients during procedures, performing EKGs, assisting with ambulation and exercises, administering topical or aerosol medication, and transporting patients and specimens.
- Participates in the development of nursing care plans, coordinates and monitors activities within the module, functions as a team leader, participates in department meetings, trains and orientates new staff, and maintains proficiency in clinical skills.
- Answers call lights, takes messages, and performs administrative tasks such as scheduling, checking in patients, preparing outgoing mail, locating personnel, and responding to requests for information.
Qualifications
- Vocational Nurse License (California)
- Basic Life Support

Schedule
Start times may vary within the specific shift. Hours may vary depending on operational needs. Travel to outlying clinics and weekends as necessary. Temporary LVN needed to support flu season and Covid vaccine clinic.
