About the role

A licensed vocational nurse performs specialized procedures for general nursing care and related services for assigned patients, under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or medical doctor (MD), in accordance with established policy.

Responsibilities

• Performs care for assigned patients, under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
• Assists in the development of a prioritized interdisciplinary plan of care on each patient.
• Implements and coordinates the plan of care utilizing appropriate organizational skills and reporting mechanisms.
• Implements individual teaching plans, including patient teaching protocols and discharge plans, based on mutual goal setting and with emphasis on patient decision making.
• Performs assigned clinical procedures (i.e. sterile dressings, irritations, and cauterizations).

Requirements

• High school education or GED (preferred)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience (preferred)
• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensure in the state of practice (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from approved vendor per AH policy (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy (required)
• Arrhythmia certification (preferred)
