Job duties and responsibilities
- Maintain and document patient behavior, progress, and responses to treatment.
- Administer prescribed medications, including psychotropic medications, change bandages, and note patient reactions.
- Absorb patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and hygiene.
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, heart rate).
- Conduct focused patient assessments, collect data, and document it in patient charts for supervising nurses and physicians.
- Collaborate with other staff, including psychiatrists, to implement treatment plans.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions or recreational activities.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, and completion of a LVN program.
- Current, active RN license to practice in the state of Texas.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral health setting, such as psychiatric or substance use disorder nursing.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team, strong observation skills, and knowledge of basic nursing care and patient safety protocols are essential.
