Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to victims of domestic violence and their children, including conducting health assessments, administering medications, dressing wounds, and providing health education.
- Deliver age-appropriate healthcare services to children affected by domestic violence, including monitoring growth and development, administering vaccines, and assessing common childhood illnesses.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans based on the unique needs of victims and their children.
- Ensure a holistic approach to healthcare that addresses physical and emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate and confidential electronic medical records, documenting patient assessments, care provided, and response to treatment.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and clinic protocols for record-keeping.
- Work closely with counselors, social workers, and other support staff to provide comprehensive care to patients and their children.
- Cook up referrals to external resources such as counseling services and community healthcare partners as necessary.
- Provide education on self-care techniques, medication administration, and strategies for managing health conditions to patients and their children.
- Guide patients and their children on domestic violence prevention, safety planning, and available resources.
- Aid in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment.
- Assist with inventory management, medical equipment sterilization, and supply ordering as needed.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, counselors, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
