About the Role
This part-time position supervises and assists students, staff, and visitors in the lunchroom during lunch service. The Lunchroom Aide also helps clean and maintain the lunchroom areas to ensure safety, sanitation, and presentation.
Reports to: Building Principal. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Classified Matrix Column A (2.5-hour workday; placement depends on years of K-12 experience in a similar role).
Responsibilities
- Act as a role model to students while in the lunchroom areas
- Facilitate and support a positive environment and respond to individual needs of students
- Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community
- React to change and frequent interruptions productively and positively
- Keep student and personnel records confidential
- Maintain awareness of and follow all allergy protocols and procedures with diligence at all times
- Oversee students during lunch and recess periods, enforcing appropriate student behavior and ensuring a safe and orderly environment
- Immediately report incidents, injuries, and significant behavioral concerns to the supervisor
- Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs, including helping them open food packages
- Assist in maintaining a clean environment in the cafeteria
- Take all reasonable precautions to protect students, facilities, equipment, and materials
- Follow all federal, state, Board, and district policies and procedures
- Adhere strictly to professional ethics
- Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by the principal
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with children and adults
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)
Physical Demands
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead
- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in typical classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone
- Work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions
- Use fine motor skills for repetitive motion
- Physical agility to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
- Enter data into a computer, see and read a computer screen, and printed material with or without vision aids

At-will employment. Performance evaluations are conducted in accordance with the Board's policy and the Classified Employee Handbook.
