Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions
- Monitor and control students’ behavior to maintain a safe and healthy environment that allows students to enjoy their meal and social activities.
- Communicate school rules to students.
- Maintain high standards for student conduct and enforce discipline according to school policy and the due process rights of students.
- Provide positive feedback to motivate students to develop and maintain appropriate behavior.
- Report discipline problems to the appropriate authority.
- Offer help to students when assistance is indicated.
- Avoid being intrusive.
- Clean up spills immediately to help prevent slipping and/or falling accidents.
- During an emergency, stay with and attend to the needs of the injured student. Send for immediate assistance.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Food Service Supervisor and/or Building Principal.
- Wash tables, pick up trash, mop and/or sweep the floor.
- Help with other kitchen/cafeteria duties, as directed.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and training programs.
- Participate in professional growth activities, when requested.
- Serve as a role model for students.
- Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect, and courtesy.
- Perform other duties, as directed.
Physical And Mental Abilities Required
- Ability to move freely throughout the building.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or supplies weighing up to twenty pounds.
- Ability to work with young children in activities that may require stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to communicate effectively using language skills.
- Ability to maintain a non-punitive relationship with students and demonstrate fairness and patience while respecting their confidences.
- Ability to react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions.
- Ability to organize and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain a tactful disposition in dealing with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Ability to be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.
Working Conditions
