Lumber Grader

Job Summary Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Principle Duties And Responsibilities Grades and sorts of softwood SPF and SYP in accordance with third party TP / SPIB inspection requirementsMoves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructionsStacks finished products according to predetermine bundle sizes and/or customer requirementsLabels material based on type, size and count, and following specificationsApplies individual tags to material before/after treating/productionUses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipmentBands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticksFollows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirementsEnsures correct quantities and material are strapped, labeled before leaving the work areaMaintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisorRecords production on production sheetsMaintains a clean and organized work areaAssist other work areas moving material, loading and unloading material cartsParticipates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings Qualifications High school diploma/GED is preferred but not required.Certification in lumber grading preferred, however non-certified graders will be considered if already in process of training and can be certifiedNo minimum experience is required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred3-5 years of related experience in lumber grading is preferredWorking knowledge of basic math preferredMust be at least 18 years of age.
