Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Lube Specialist journeyman’s card or six (6) years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing lubrication
Skills
- Mathematics: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions
- Language: read and interpret safety policies, operating and maintenance procedures, emergency procedures, and various manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; communicate effectively with coworkers
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense and understanding; carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions; interact with coworkers through clear communication and accountability
- Aptitude for mechanical diagnosis and repair
- Ability to follow complex directions in manuals and relay information effectively
Qualifications
- High standard of integrity and professionalism
- Strong working knowledge of job site safety and ability to complete company-specific safety orientation
- Solid knowledge of system operation, building plans, and working drawings
- Hold a Lubrication Specialist Journeyman’s card/License/Certification or 6 years of experience as a Lubrication Specialist or equivalent
- Experience working with equipment such as servicing equipment, filtering systems, hand tools, and overhead cranes
- Knowledge of tool use and care, safety practices, blueprint reading, mathematics, and mechanical drawings
- Ability to stand and walk for up to seventy-five percent of work time
Responsibilities
- Drain, clean, perform preventative maintenance, and service lubricants to assigned equipment at proper intervals using charts and/or verbal instructions
- Inspect, test, adjust, or repair all external lubrication carrying systems (production equipment or related sub-systems)
- Maintain portable servicing equipment, work areas, lubrication containers, and storage areas in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
- Remove, replace, or clean all types of lubrication and filtration devices using charts and/or verbal instructions
- Remove access covers or plates to gain entry to lubrication and/or filtration points
- Use air, electric, and small hand tools to perform work
- Operate material handling equipment (floor-controlled cranes, overhead cranes, prime movers, work savers, or lift trucks)
- Maintain constant lubrication preventative maintenance programs throughout the plant
- Assist, direct, and train Lubrication Apprentices
- Maintain necessary recordkeeping
