Duties and Responsibilities
- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
- Drive to different job site locations.
- Fuel up heavy equipment and on-road trucks.
- Check all fluid levels and grease machines.
- Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and on-road trucks.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
- Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
- Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations.
- Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
Qualifications and Skills
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Three (3) or more years of relevant experience are required.
- Previous work history in the construction industry is a plus.
- Must be willing to travel within the DFW area.
- Must be able to climb on and off equipment 40-50 times per day.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
