About the role

The Transport Aide is responsible for transporting residents to various appointments, scheduled outings, and other special events in the greater Houston metro area. When not driving residents, this role acts as a Therapeutic Assistant, providing 24-hour supervision and documentation of residents’ activities. The Transport Aide upholds the organization’s mission, philosophy, and goals while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and resident data.

Responsibilities

• Ensure transport needs for residents are met, including picking up patients for admission/discharge and transporting them to appointments or the hospital.
• Safely secure residents in the vehicle per facility training and provide all necessary care while off-site.
• Complete all required paperwork before appointments and relay information from consulting physicians.
• Perform routine inspections of Moody vehicles and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Attend scheduled shifts and appointments on time, arriving early when possible.
• Act as a Therapeutic Assistant when not driving, providing resident care, supervision, and documentation.
• Carry out therapeutic activities as designed by clinical staff, including behavior management programs and the Levels system.
• Assist in emergency situations, including fire drills, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
• Maintain professional conduct and serve as a role model for residents.
• Document resident activities, behaviors, and incidents (e.g., seizure reports, ADL check sheets, critical incident reports).
• Provide a safe and secure environment for patients while maintaining confidentiality.
• Attend in-services, staff meetings, and comply with organizational policies and accrediting bodies (e.g., CARF).

Requirements

• High-school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Two years in Residential Behavioral Rehabilitation or one to two years working with disabled populations.
• Current CPR and first aid certifications.
• Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI).
• Current/valid driver’s license.
• Ability to assist with patient transfers (up to 150 pounds) and lift up to 100 pounds without assistance.
