LTE Fisheries Creel Survey Technician (multiple locations)

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing creel clerk duties independently or under general supervision. The position will interview anglers, identify and measure angler-caught fish, record data, collate and enter the collected data. The position will also provide information to anglers and the public on local fisheries topics and may also prepare written creel reports.

Responsibilities

  • 70% Independently or under general supervision perform creel survey clerk duties and collect fish information on designated waters. Measure, weigh and identify fish caught. Interview anglers. Record data.
  • 20% Compile and analyze data and prepare written documentation and/or reports.
  • 10% Lead other LTE Fisheries Technicians performing creel survey duties.

Salary Information

This position pays between $18.59 - $19.00 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 06-12. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

Special Requirements

  • Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
  • Background Checks: The Department of Natural Resources conducts criminal background checks on final applicants prior to a job offer.
  • Eligible to work in U.S.: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.

Qualifications

  • Minimally qualified candidates will have:
  • - An interest in fish and fishing
  • - Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public
  • - Operation and maintenance of a boat with an outboard
  • - Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • - Willingness to work a variable schedule (including all weekends and holidays)
  • In addition, well qualified candidates will have:
  • - Ability to identify common Wisconsin fish species
  • - Ability to record required data accurately
  • - Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
  • - Ability to pass boat safety training by the start date
