LTD Claims Consultant
This is a mobile position with preference given to candidates within commuting proximity to a Guardian office, with the ability to travel to Guardian offices as needed.
About the Role
The LTD Claims Consultant is responsible for day-to-day execution to drive delivery of key metric results while increasing claim management accuracy and service delivery. The role involves developing and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement by identifying root causes, problem-solving, and implementing solutions to enhance performance and innovation. The LTD Claims Consultant reports to the Technical Manager, Claims.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to claim teams, including claim authorization reviews, and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on complex issues
- Drive improvements in initial claim decisions, claim management accuracy, and claim investigation and determination (CID) turnaround times
- Leverage automation and/or alternate sourcing options to handle additional tasks
- Collaborate with all lines of business to promote best practices and improve efficiency
- Serve as a subject matter expert to support timely and effective delivery of workstream initiatives
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Proven training skills on an individual and team basis
- Ability to mentor/coach staff and peers to ensure proper claim adjudication and contribute to staff development
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Demonstrated ability to identify and manage risk
- Self-motivated
- Extensive knowledge of group long-term disability products, administration, and claims procedures
- Strong knowledge of PC applications (including Microsoft Office, databases, imaging systems, etc.)
- Superior working knowledge of the financial, medical, occupational, and investigative aspects of disability claims management
- Excellent PC skills with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- 3+ years of LTD claims handling experience; prior disability income (DI) experience or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of experience providing feedback to front-line staff and front-line supervisors
Pay
Salary Range: $58,620.00 - $96,300.00. The salary for this position will ultimately be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
