Position Summary
The Staff Pharmacist at Red River Pharmacy Long Term Care is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications to long-term care residents while providing exceptional pharmaceutical care and maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations. This position requires a compassionate healthcare professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering outstanding service to our patients and partnering facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Evaluate prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosing, drug interactions, allergies, and therapeutic appropriateness.
- Counsel healthcare professionals regarding medication therapies when appropriate.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and facility staff to optimize patient care.
- Supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and documentation.
- Participate in quality assurance and medication safety initiatives.
- Absorb inventory management and controlled substance accountability.
- Support accreditation standards and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of Arkansas and/or Texas (or ability to obtain).
- Long Term Care pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software and electronic health records is preferred.
