About the role

Raytheon is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) to join the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Discipline supporting the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) Program. As an integral part of the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE), the LSE will serve as the principal arbiter of systems requirements and design, ensuring technical execution and system compliance with contractual requirements. This role involves collaboration across disciplines to troubleshoot issues, perform data analysis, and implement solutions that directly impact mission-critical defense systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work across all IPT/CPTs and contracts in support of Development, Production, and Sustainment.
  • Coordinate across hardware, software, and test capabilities to ensure interface integrity and design cohesion; participate in platform/SoS integration.
  • Mature concepts into optimal solutions balancing performance against objectives and constraints; responsible for system requirements verification (FCA/SVR) and supports product sell-off.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer (CE) to support capability thread leads for technical execution and integration of the program.
  • Guide and mature technical capabilities (EP, NCTR, ABT/TBM, 360°) into optimal solutions alongside the CE and capability thread leads.
  • Shape Tech Baseline strategy through collaborative engagements to mature system capability across contracts and proposals.
  • Maintain constant communication with the Program Office and U.S. Government to mature solutions and expedite field deployment.
  • Oversee and ensure alignment between LTAMDS and Ghosteye for architecture, performance, and requirements; provide technical leadership and coordination.
  • Coordinate closely with the Program Manager regarding budget and schedule.
  • Guide and direct other engineering team leads to achieve program and technical success.
  • Coordinate, write, and deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in Systems Engineering or Multi-Disciplined Engineering.
  • Experience effectively leading multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals.
  • Radar or sensor systems experience preferred.
  • Integration/test or sustainment background strongly valued.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter with proactive goal-setting and action-oriented mindset.
  • Experience preparing customer and/or management-level briefings.
  • Excellent communication skills with prior experience presenting to customers and senior leadership.
  • Experience defining clear, testable requirements or change requests.
  • Familiarity with configuration control and release processes.
  • Experience in schedule development, action item management, requirement change management, and development/progress metrics.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience working with external customers, including USG or FMS partners.
  • EVMS Certified (or equivalent).
  • Ability to navigate the organization and work with stakeholders to develop solutions for key program challenges.
  • Technical leadership and guidance of multi-disciplined teams in system requirements and design development.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $157,200 – $298,800 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels and considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
