LT Sub - Instructional Assistant - Pre-K

Temporary position through December 1, 2026.

Schedule

• 3.25 hours/day (AM) (plus 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
• 4 days/week (Monday–Thursday)

Purpose

Provides both direct and indirect support to promote student learning in the special education and general education settings as directed by the special needs teacher(s).

Responsibilities

• Prepares instructional materials according to the teacher's direction to implement individual education programs (IEP).
• Attends community-based instructional activities to assist students in building life skills/vocational skills.
• Implements behavior intervention plans (BIP) when necessary.
• Assists with and cares for personal needs of students, including bathroom assistance, diapering, feeding, and changing.
• Provides assistance with physical transitions into wheelchairs, physical therapist equipment, and/or on and off the bus.
• Performs other responsibilities as needed and determined by the Special Education Office.

Qualifications

• Completion of two years of study (60+ hours) at an institution of higher education or possession of an associate's (or higher) degree is preferred.
• Previous experience as a classroom assistant desirable.
• Sincere interest in working with students in the learning process.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to take direction.
• Initiative and dependability in carrying out assignments.
• Patience and genuine interest in education of students.
• Awareness and respect for student diversity.
• Clerical skills, flexibility, and confidentiality required.
