LS Patent Counsel
About the role
We are adding to our Life Science Patents team and seeking a patent attorney with curiosity, practical judgment, and genuine drive. This role offers the opportunity to build a deep understanding of the business, work directly with inventors, shape IP strategy, and grow with experienced colleagues. You’ll help protect meaningful Life Science innovations for our customers in an engaged, collaborative, and globally connected environment.
The Life Science technologies you will support span areas such as 3D cell biology and cell culture, protein chemistry, diagnostics, molecular and cellular separation technologies, and more. Success in this role requires technical expertise, sound judgment, strong communication, and the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and business teams.
Responsibilities
- Draft, file, prosecute, and defend patents.
- Prepare opinions and advise on IP matters to protect our technologies and products.
- Work directly with R&D teams and cross-functional colleagues worldwide to identify IP opportunities, assess risks, develop solutions, and support strategic decisions.
- Manage patent portfolio activities, including strategic counseling aligned with business objectives.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree (BS/BA) in a relevant scientific or technical field, particularly spatial biology, cell and tissue engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline.
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- Minimum of 3 years of patent law experience.
- Fluency in English.

Location & Travel
This role is based in Burlington, MA, USA (Hybrid); remote work may be considered. Travel is less than 10%, including international and domestic trips.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $147,300.00 - $220,000.00. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. The position may also be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
