Responsibilities
- Provide direct medical care, medical evaluation, and medical consultation for persons served including but not limited to: direct care, observations, notifying physicians as needed, administering medications, and incident report evaluation and follow-up.
- Document programs and services provided, using OU, state, and federal standards, procedures, format, and/or software.
- Able to update and maintain progress notes.
- Care for persons served by coordinating their care by noting physician’s orders, carrying them out, and following up on them.
- Coordinate care by maintaining up-to-date information and teaching persons served how to support their own medical needs when possible.
- Work with and teach residential staff how to meet the health care needs of persons served.
- Perform nursing on-call duties.
- Complete continuing education as required.
- Maintain and promote positive relationships with coworkers, persons served, families, vendors, and volunteers.
Requirements
- Must be able to meet all organizational, local, state, and federal licensing and training requirements including but not limited to CPR, MANDT, and Mandatory Reporting.
- Must be able to attend periodic staff meetings and trainings after normal work hours and possibly weekends.
- Able to lift fifty (50) pounds to provide physical assistance as needed.
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain a chauffeurs license/endorsement.
- Professional status as a current licensed nurse (RN) or (LPN) in the state of Iowa. The license must be maintained.
