LPN Preceptor Program – Full-Time
About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a clinical position responsible for the delivery of direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice, utilizing the established nursing standards of care, as well as, the established standards of nursing practice for the patient population it serves. Through collaboration with all members of the health-care team, the LPN strives to support a patient-centered culture and gain knowledge and skills to further the practice of the quality of patient services provided at WMRMC.
Responsibilities
- Delivers direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice, utilizing established nursing standards of care and nursing practice for the patient population served.
- Collaborates with all members of the health-care team to support a patient-centered culture.
- Gains knowledge and skills to improve the quality of patient services provided at WMRMC.
- Functions under the direction of the Nurse Manager for the patient population they serve or the Chief Nursing Officer, exercising independent judgement in applying professional knowledge required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified responsibilities in delivering quality patient care.
- Works in collaboration with a Registered Nurse to exercise independent judgement in applying professional knowledge required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified responsibilities in delivering quality patient care.
- Performs tasks under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Chief Nursing Officer.
- May perform additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager or Chief Nursing Officer.
Requirements
- Completion of LPN training.
- Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Arizona.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Shifts may include holidays and weekends.

Includes participation in the WMRMC LPN Preceptor Program, a one-year training program for new/experienced, licensed LPNs currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school to obtain their RN licensure. Precepted experience includes a minimum of 2 (12-hour) shifts per week, covering ER, Med/Surg, Pre-Op, and PACA. Weekly and monthly check-ins with the LPN, preceptor, and manager are required. Program requirements include transition into the New Grad RN Transition to Practice Program and a two-year employment agreement.
