LPN Pre-Anesthesia

Key Responsibilities

• Coverage of comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including health history review, medication reconciliation, and allergy verification.
• Obtaining and documenting vital signs, EKGs, lab work, and any required diagnostic testing.
• Ensuring all pre-operative labs, clearances, and consents are completed, accurate, and documented in the patient chart.
• Communicating and coordinating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the clinical team regarding patient readiness or special considerations.
• Providing patient education and instructions on pre-operative preparation, fasting, medication management, and what to expect on the day of surgery.
• Identifying and escalating any abnormal findings, incomplete records, or potential risks to the appropriate provider.
• Maintaining compliance with ASC policies, infection prevention standards, and all regulatory guidelines.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives and supporting smooth surgical scheduling through accurate and timely pre-op documentation.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in pre-admission testing, perioperative services, physician office, or ambulatory surgery environment (required).
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia considerations, and pre-operative requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Proficiency in EMR documentation and comfort with medical technology.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
