About the Role
The LPN provides professional nursing care for assigned patients under the direct supervision of an RN, collaborating in the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role ensures age-specific care, maintains practice standards, and promotes collaboration with medical and other staff to support the facility's mission and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Comply with nursing standards under the guidance of the Nursing Staff.
- Maintain clinic and hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control; interpret these to personnel, patients, and the public as appropriate.
- Follow established routines and utilize supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
- Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Collect data in a systematic and ongoing process to identify issues and develop diagnoses based on assessment data.
- Prioritize data collection based on the patient's condition and needs.
- Identify expected outcomes and plan based on diagnoses or issues.
- Care Processes:
- Treat patients and families with compassion and implement the plan of care.
- Base care decisions on the plan of care and monitor/document patient response.
- Establish rapport with clients, adapt communication style, and respond to patient needs.
- Recognize age-specific responses to treatment and provide effective interventions.
- Respect patient confidentiality and privacy, and support social, spiritual, and cultural needs.
- Manage difficult or emotional patient situations.
- Outcomes and Evaluations:
- Develop expected outcomes that provide direction for continuity of care, involving patient/family and other disciplines.
- Modify expected outcomes based on changes in patient assessment.
- Include the patient and others in the evaluation process and document results.
- Evaluate the plan in relation to patient responses and expected outcomes.
- Documentation:
- Document and submit required information/data in a timely fashion.
- Ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and tailored to expected readers/users.
- Use correct terminology and conform to required style and format.
- Adhere to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the organization’s core values, mission, and vision.
- Perform other duties as required and complete all job functions per departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility through self-education and ongoing programs.
- Attend staff meetings, complete mandatory in-services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrate competency in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
- Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
Requirements
- Vocational/Technical Degree in Practical Nursing from an accredited school.
- 1 year of Practical Nursing experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Current Georgia LPN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
