About the role

Welcome to The Herrick House, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health Continuing Care. Our team provides ongoing care to individuals through our assisted living facility. Our teams of nurses, aides, food service, and environmental service employees work to create an environment that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents along with their families.

Responsibilities

  • I. Clinical Judgment and Decision Making: Participates in direct and indirect nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and rehabilitation, to the extent of his/her generic and continuing education and experience in order to assess an individual’s basic health status, records and related health data, analyze and interpret said recorded data, and make informed judgements as to the specific elements of nursing care mandated by a particular situation. Participates in planning and implementing nursing intervention, including appropriate healthcare components in nursing care plans that take account of the most recent advancements in current knowledge in the field. Incorporates the prescribed medical regimen in the nursing plan of care. Evaluates outcome of basic nursing intervention and initiates or encourages change in plans of care.
  • II. Collaborative Relationship: Collaborates, cooperates, and communicates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care. Establishes collaborative relationships with nurses, physicians, other colleagues, patients and families. Educates the patient and family about the patient’s illness and treatment including preventative measures appropriate to the patient.
  • III. Clinical Leadership: Responsible for the nature and quality of all nursing care that a patient receives under his/her direction. Leads and influences the reasoning of colleagues in the patient’s best interest. Adheres to unit policies and procedures and practice guidelines specific to the setting. Demonstrates skills as a responsive team member. Demonstrates role of LPN as teacher. Fulfills role in Regulatory compliance and readiness.
  • IV. Clinical Scholarship: Achieves clinical scholarship through experiences with patients, through collaboration with colleagues and leadership, and through formal education. Transforms learning into knowledge through self-reflection and analysis. Upholds standards of quality nursing care. Demonstrates a commitment to life-long learning.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of medical/surgical nursing or nursing in a skilled nursing facility is required.

Qualifications

  • License/Certification(s): Current license to practice nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration. BLS certification.

  • Ability to deliver care that is specific to the age of the patient.

Pay

$32.10 - $43.20 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
