LPN or Medical Assistant | Primary Care

About the role

Monument Health is seeking Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) for its Hot Springs, SD primary care clinic. The position offers a sign‑on bonus of up to $10,000 for qualified candidates and provides a collaborative, patient‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination and treatment areas according to clinic standards.
• Room patients, recording vital signs and collecting required data.
• Administer and document unit‑dose medications and immunizations following training and competency verification.
• Perform EKGs and laboratory tests in compliance with the clinic’s CLIA license.
• Maintain accurate, clear, and concise documentation in patient records.
• Serve as a provider scribe after successful training.
• Complete assigned clerical tasks and manage supply maintenance/ordering.
• Assist with scheduling follow‑up care and appointments.
• Distribute pre‑printed or pre‑approved patient education materials.
• Direct patient questions to the provider or RN as appropriate.
• Operate within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or training facility.
• Medical Assistant‑Certified (MA) by a recognized certifying body.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association) within 60 days of hire or transfer.
• For hires after July 1 2024, one of the following national MA certifications is required: AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or AMCA.
• Preferred: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing and LPN licensure (South Dakota Board of Nursing).
• 1+ years of clinical experience and 1+ years of healthcare experience.

Physical Requirements

Medium work – occasional exertion of up to 50 lb, frequent exertion of up to 30 lb, and constant exertion of up to 10 lb. Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.

Pay

Starting pay range: $20.45 – $28.73 per hour.

• Medical Assistant: $20.45 – $23.51 per hour.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (SD): $25.00 – $28.73 per hour (determined by knowledge, skills, and experience).

Up to $10,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates.

Schedule

Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Assigned schedules and hours are determined by the department.
