LPN or Med Aide - Hospice - PRN

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Med Aide will provide comfort-focused, patient-centered care to individuals and families during the hospice stage of life. You'll work closely with an interdisciplinary team to support symptom management, emotional comfort, and dignity for every patient.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient/resident care in the home care setting.
• Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles and skills to provide patient/resident care.
• Administer a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
• Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of patients/residents.
• Obtain and maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• If position requires IV therapy/management skills, complete a Board-approved AASPN program or an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
• One year of professional nursing experience preferred.
• Currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of nursing principles and skills for patient/resident care.
• Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients/residents.
• Knowledge of patient/residents education principles to develop a self-care program.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe environment.

• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong communication and empathy skills.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Pay

$22 - $36 per hour
